The WaterPump
Halton's Social Innovation Centre, recently named The WaterPump, is an initiative whose goal is to build a shared office and resource facility in which to house and support non-profits, social enterprises, social innovators/entrepreneurs and environmental & grassroots organizations within the Halton Region.
This facility will provide a cost-effective, physical workspace for “like-minded” organizations to conduct operations. Through this unique co-location model, tenants will benefit from a synergistic atmosphere which supports mind-share, collaboration and networking.
Additionally, this facility will provide tenants with workspace, meeting rooms, IT support, accounting services, reception, lunch room, etc…. pretty much all the necessary infrastructure needed to effectively operate any organization, AND because these costs will be shared, rent will be at below market rates.
As a potential hub for social innovation, this facility will be more then just a physical building – it will be a catalyst for change. Tenants will be able to use each others capabilities, knowledge, talents, and ideas to excel at whatever their mission may be.
HEN is the lead organization on a collaborative Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant to support this project.
