Oakville air quality has improved

Jul 11, 2012 No Comments by

Oakville's air quality has improved since 2004. Between 2004 and 2010, Oakville's particulate matter (PM) 2.5 levels dropped by 33 per cent.

The improvement is mainly due to reduced emissions by the industrial sector. Only small reductions were seen in the transportation sector and the residential sector. Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn is recommending that households conserve on their use of natural gas furnaces to reduce their contribution to PM 2.5 emissions.
