Oakville Urban Forest Plan

From Oakvillegreen:

Oakville has a North Oakville Urban Forest Management Plan that we can be proud of. Thanks to Oakvillegreen president Karen Brock, our friends at South Peel Naturalists, Dr. Pedro Pereyra and the many others who supported us by coming out to Council and Committee meetings on the subject. The plan considers trees as “green infrastructure” and equally important to grey infrastructure like sewers and roads. It ensures adequate planting space and soil for trees and will require 33% of trees planted to be native. Thanks for this innovative plan must also go to the Mayor, Council and Town staff who addressed the concerns of the many public delegations they heard and have created a forward-thinking plan that other municipalities will be sure to copy.
