Natural gas discovery limits geothermal drilling

A natural gas leak in Oakville has led to the discovery of natural gas deposits under the Town, tapped into while drilling vertical boreholes for a residential geothermal system.

The Town has requested a moratorium on drilling until safety procedures can be put in place. In the interim, it has put out an information piece for potential buyers at www.oakville.ca/townhall/pn-12may11.html.
